“If you are driving rows of potato ridges without automated steering, you’ll spend all of your time staring at if the right wheel is on the line, while the sun is shining in your eye and there is a lot of dust. Shoulders will be sore after such precise steering and even smaller bends are replicated to the following lines. With automated steering, the operator won’t get tired, can manage more hectares more precisely and efficiently”, explains farmer Tero Koivuranta.

Markus Voraberger from Rottenbach in Upper Austria recently purchased a Valtra T254 Active. He’s well known in the forest industry as the third entrepreneur in the district of Grieskirchen to start wood chipping in 1996. Mr. Voraberger is active in the production of wood chips and in trading, as well as being a passionate farmer and lumberjack.

Maximilian Woerle has been operating a forestry company in Seekirchen since 2014. Since 2017, the company has been managed by Julian Wallmannsberger as a 2-man operation with a focus on timber harvesting and garden care. The services offered in the Flachgau and Salzburg area include special tree felling, forestry work and hedge trimming.

“Togetherness is just something very important to me. Because if you pull together and the interpersonal aspect works in the team, then performance is strong”, said Sebastian Gaigg, owner of a forestry company in Weyregg am Attersee. “That’s why I can say with justification that we’re a really strong force.”

Velfjord Skogservice in Helgeland, in Norway has used Valtra from the beginning eleven years ago. In 2017 they invested in a Valtra N154 Active with integrated Kesla crane, delivered by Eiksenteret Mosjøen. It has been an effective combination.

Dag Haarstad at Midt Norsk Skogrydding AS has been operating a Valtra for almost ten years. He feels that the tractor is best fit and best equipped for work in the forest. In addition to the revolving seat and a spacious cabin, he mentions the glass roof and the extra protection around the fuel tank as good features.

We travelled to Rouen, headquarters of France’s North West Interdepartmental Road Directorate, to meet users of Valtra tractors and Noremat implements.

The Halli airport has a runway of 2.6 kilometres. Cleaning the wide runway during a snowfall requires driving dozens of kilometres.
